Seneca Valley School District

LEAP & Before/after School programs

LEAP (Learning Extensions & Play)

LEAP is a unique program provided by Stepping Stones Children’s Center within each of our School Age programs in Seneca Valley. It is offered to children who are currently enrolled in kindergarten, and we offer both morning and afternoon sessions.

Our LEAP teachers design and implement engaging, child-centered, and developmentally appropriate thematic lesson plans aligned with Pennsylvania’s Early Learning Standards. The program is intended to complement the school district’s curriculum by reinforcing key skills such as sight words, letter recognition, and foundational math concepts.
Throughout the program, children have opportunities to participate in a variety of enriching activities, including reading, writing, math, science, social studies, gross and fine motor development, art, music and movement, dramatic play, socialization, and problem-solving.

These meaningful learning experiences are guided by our team of educators, with lead teachers holding at least an associate degree and Site Directors holding a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field; ensuring your child is supported every step of the way.

Before & After School Program

Our program provides a safe, supportive, and enriching environment led by dedicated early childhood care professionals. All staff meet DHS regulations for clearances and complete ongoing professional development each year to ensure high-quality care.

Children enjoy a variety of engaging, hands-on experiences designed to spark creativity and curiosity throughout the school year. Activities may include STEM exploration, art, science, social studies, technology, and active play.

We also support families by offering dedicated homework time and daily snack in the after school program.

“Stepping Stones has been a wonder for my boys. Both of my boys have been in Stepping Stones from 4 months old to now the Kindergarten LEAP Program. Both of my boys have thrived in a caring environment where they’ve been given a great basis of learning, wonderful socialization and fun. The staff go out of their way to make parents feel comfortable with their kid’s experiences. I recommend Stepping Stones programs to anyone looking.”

“We started sending our son to Stepping Stones when he was only 3 months of age, and though we were anxious, we need not have worried! The staff were so kind, nurturing and attentive to his needs. He’s now been going to Stepping Stones for over two years, and it’s been remarkable to see how much he enjoys and learns from his time there! We couldn’t be happier.”

“When we moved to SVSD a few years ago, it was during the school year. Moving from a district with all day kindergarten to half day made it necessary to find something to fill the void. There happened to be an opening a few days a week for afternoon LEAP and after school care at our elementary school. The teachers were fantastic and our daughter learned so much in the LEAP program. We also loved the fact that she got to stay in the building and we didn't have to worry about her being transported elsewhere for care. We also utilize the summer camp which she really enjoys! They do a great job planning and keeping the kids active! Every single staff member has been so kind and caring towards not only our child, but us as well. We have been a part of Stepping Stones for 3 years now and we couldn't be happier with our experience!”
